Sunday School
CHILDREN’S CLASSES
All of our Children's Classes are using the Rock Solid: Building a Heart of Faith curriculum available through Cokesbury. We meet each morning in our Chapel for opening announcements and worship time. Then we send the kids off to their respective classrooms for the daily lesson.
Pre-Kindergarten
Ages: 2-4
Description: We begin out class with by greeting each child and putting up attendance stickers. The children have some play time, and then gather to hear the day’s story. The children do a craft if one is included in the lesson that week. The hour is finished with a small snack and play time until the parents pick them up.
Kindergarten
Ages: 5-6
Description: Bible story, learning bible verses, completing lesson worksheets, games/crafts/snacks; fellowship and playtime together
First Grade
Ages: 6-7
Description: Stories, play acting, personal worksheets, interacting with congregation through greeting and handing out messages of God’s love
Middle Elementary
Ages: 7-9 (grades 2 and 3)
Description: We discover the love and strength of God through traditional Bible stories, as well as some lesser known stories. We use games, cooking and other fun activities to explore what God means to us.
Older Elementary
Ages: 9-11 (grades 4 and 5)
Description: Learning about the love of God through Bible Stories and lessons that incorporate a series of activities such as cooking, science, art and computers to add experience to learning.
YOUTH CLASSES
Our Youth Program is dedicated to raising children in the faith. Our Middle Schoolers focus on Biblical knowledge and our High Schoolers focus on what it means to live out the call to discipleship.
Gal 1:10 – Do you think I am trying to make people accept me? No, God is the one I am trying to please. Am I trying to please people? If I still wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Middle School Youth
Ages: 11-14 (grades 6, 7 and 8)
Description: Informal discussions about the happenings in the lives of the youth and the church followed by discussions of Bible stories and how we learn from them today. Parents are always welcome to join with their youth any Sunday.
Senior High Youth
Ages: 14-18 (grades 9, 10, 11 and 12)
Description: We spend time in fellowship each week, discussing issues that teens face. We study the teachings of Jesus and relate His words to our lives today. Our focus is Christ and how we are called daily to be in relationship with him
ADULT CLASSES
Rainbow Class
Target: Adults with special learning needs
Our Rainbow Class is largely offered for our local Heart Havens residents although others in the congregation who are in need of this ministry are always willing to participate. Our teachers help engage youth and adults with learning disabilities through teaching and activities.
Seekers Class
Target: Youth and Adults who want to go deeper in their faith
Seekers is a group of eager Christians who desire to be transformed by the message of Scripture. We commonly use LifeGuide lessons – thought provoking studies designed to allow the Spirit to renew our minds through study and discussion.
Lambert Class
Target: Older adults, 50+
Description: Discussion based studies that allow participants to express personal interpretations and learn from one another
New Beginnings Class
Target: 30+, mostly parents of children and youth
This class allows parents to come together and discuss how to keep God an ever present part of their hectic lives. This group also spends much time in discussion and prayer so they may better understand how to be a Godly example to their children.
Bible Journey Class
Target: All who are committed to reading and studying the entire Bible
Bible Journey welcomes anyone and everyone who wants to commit to reading through and discussing the entire Bible. The class is currently working their way through Description: This class includes a commitment to read through and discuss the entire Bible.
Louise Diehl Class
Target: Adult men and women
Description: The class uses the International Study Bible Lessons, which follows a plan to cover the entire Bible. The teachers encourage discussion relating the lessons to daily living. This class has also made a commitment to support various missions of the church and our local community.
