Youth 2011
In July 2011, our youth at Calvary traveled to Carroll, Ohio and Purdue University for their annual mission experience. They spent the first few days of their trip in mission with a church in Ohio and the last days of their trip at a conference with hundreds of Methodist youth from all over the country. They learned, through experience and teaching, what it truly means to be a friend in Christ.
Carroll, Ohio is the home of Team Ohio, a mission group that has stayed in our church and completed area work projects for the last two summers. It was now our turn to visit with them. The youth and their team of adult leaders worked side by side with the members of Shalom UMC to complete community work projects and to show the love of God in a new community.

while others served those in need of food.
Now matter how they served or who they met, our group of teenagers put themselves aside in order to answer God's call to mission.
The Youth 2011 --> More Than youth gathering proved to be a highlight of the trip as the youth learned the four tenants of being a friend in Christ: "I put you first", "I play my part", "I've got your back", "I love you anyway." During their time away, our youth met new friends and fellowshipped with some old ones. All in all, this group of teenagers made their home church proud!

Our youth leadership continued this emphasis on friendship into the Fall 2011 school year, allowing the youth who traveled to Purdue to teach their peers who could not attend.
